While working in Edmonds School District, I attended the 2 Day Undoing Institutional Racism workshop:
The People's Institute for Survival and Beyond
http://www.pisab.org/
This workshop focused on undoing institutional racism, not only a personal or professional level, but really looked at it from a systems level as well.  Very thought provoking and powerful.  I was trained by one of the original co-founders, Ronald Chisom, and also Dr. Kimberley Richards.

Our district in Washington also provided training on social justice, equity, and race relations through Cultures Connecting.  Dr. Caprice Hollins presented to our Administrative Leadership Teams several times throughout the year.  Additionally, they offered three trainings throughout the year that were open to all Equity Team Members to attend at our district, which were great at building additional personal connections for our Equity Team Members.

The book study that our School Level Equity Teams used to focus our discussions as we began this work was Courageous Conversations:  A Field Guide for Achieving Equity in Schools by Glenn Singleton.  Through these conversations, we were able to begin learning more about one another, and also examine our school through this lens. We worked to make our school a more equitable place and also put our unconscious biases into check.

In addition to our building level Equity Team, I was also a part of our district Parent and Community Equity Team while I was in Washington at Edmonds School District and also while I was in Lincolnshire in D103 in IL.  In those groups we talked more with parents and community members about how to support our students and their families.

I am currently serving on our Woodland School District Strategic Direction Committee for Student Well-Being, Equity and Inclusion. We are working with Roger Moreano to provide training in The History of Implicit Bias, bringing this information to our staff and community.
"She is an expert in the area of cultural equity as well as formative assessment.  During her administrative tenure, she has met regularly with school level administration as well as teachers to promote school and district initiatives, including participating as a coordinator for our student equity school board committee.  This expertise has solidified the established connections between our teachers and our school board resulting in student growth in the area of cultural literacy."
